Welcome Letter

Welcome!!

We are very excited to have your child in our class this year.  We are looking forward to the many educational, fun and rewarding experiences that we will encounter and strive towards together.

Parent/Teacher Relationship

We believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success.  Throughout the year we will communicate with you through weekly homework sheets, notes, phone call, progress reports, report cards and parent- teacher conferences.  You may call me at school anytime (689-5000).  We also have ClassDojo.

Parent Participation

Throughout the year there will be a variety of special classroom activities and celebrations.  I encourage you to attend these functions when possible and to support them by sending needed supplies or treats.  Your support of school activities makes your child feel important and sends the message that you value school.

Changes in Transportation

If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides a bus, you must send a written note.  Do not rely on your child to tell me this information, because children often become confused and relay messages incorrectly.  If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.

Physical Activity

The children will be going out for physical activity if weather permits.  Please keep this in mind when helping your child to select clothing for the day.  We have PE on Tuesday and Friday.   Tennis shoes are required on these days.

Money

On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school.  Always send money in a sealed envelope or baggie with the following information:  Parent communication folders cost $1.00 and the agendas are $4.00.  Please pay as soon as possible.  School breakfast and lunch are free to all students this year.

* Your child’s first and last name

* The amount of money

* The purpose for money

Homework and Behavior

Your child will have a special folder for homework.  We will have homework Monday - Thursday.  A newsletter will be sent home on Monday with all assignments and important information.  A weekly calendar will be in this folder.  We will write on the calendar each day to let you know your child’s behavior. Please initial the calendar each night.  Your child can earn 3 paws each day.  Our discipline plan will be sent home on the first day of school.
