Exploring Careers

career      Career Cruising for 7th Grade Students

7th Grade students will be introduced to a career cruising website—Future for Kids (F4K.)  Students will be able to explore their likes, dislikes, various careers available, requirements for these careers and what education is required.  This is a resource that students can access and use whenever they like—even at home!  I will introduce all 7th grade students to this website and the beginning of career exploration through their 7th grade science classes.  We will do this during the month of December. In mid February 2012 our entire 7th grade will visit the Wayne County Career Fair at the Family Y. This Career Fair is sponsored by Wayne Education Network.  Students will be exposed to many different job opportunities, various schools, and employment opportunities that are available.  This Career Fair is attended by all 7th graders in Wayne County

8th Grade Students will be exploring the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) website in the spring as they begin creating their high school career portfolio.  Check it out and familiarize yourself with the site.  You can also go ahead and create a user name and password if you'd like.  If you do, it is very important to write it down so you'll remember it when we go to the computer lab!
